Abstract: The preparation process of Er-doped silicate glass was presented. In the tem perature range
of 298-698K, the relatio ns hip bet w een the absolute temperature T and the fluores cence intensity ra
tio R of two green upr co nv ers ion phot luminescence s pectra emitting from the trivalence erbium ions
loped in the silicate subs trate w as dis cussed and fitted to the analytic function of R=1.782 x
exp( -328/T). The sensitivity of the sample descends monotonously from 0. 002 19 to
0. 000 75K w hen the tem perature rises from 298K to 698 K. The results show that the Er-doped
ilicate glass could be used as a high sensitivity sensor and play a major role in temperature measure
m ent below 698 K
