As a result, the JScript garbage collector cannot break circular references between DOM objects and JScript objects, and memory leaks may occur. In Internet Explorer 6, these circular references are broken when the Internet Explorer process terminates. In Internet Explorer 7, these circular references are broken wh en users navigate away from the page that contains the leaks. In Internet Explorer 8 the problem is completely mitigated. As explained here, the JScript garbage collector treats DOM objects referenced by JScript objects as any other JScript object and breaks circular references whenever possible throughout the lifetime of the site. Even so, programmers will still need to support older versions of the IE browser for some time, and should still try to avoid programming patterns such as JScript closures, as they could cause memory leaks in Internet Explorer 7 and earlier. IEJSLeaksDetector is a tool designed to help developers in this task. The purpose of the tool is to detect memory leaks caused by the interaction between the JScript engine and Trident (mshtml.dll). It works transparently intercepting all the interactions between Trident and the JavaScript engine. It monitors all the DOM elements in the markup of a web document that somehow interact with and via JavaScript, it keeps a reference count for these objects and, when the document is unloaded, it determines which objects still have references and may have been leaked. Finally, the tool presents a list of potentially leaked objects to the user, together with information about the scripts in the page and, if possible, a hint to the instruction that may have caused the leak. ...展开收缩
