This code has been tested against a Visual Studio .NET Professional installation with an evaluation edition of SQL Server 2000, but it should be possible to run this code with MSDE and Visual Basic.NET Standard edition. You may find that you do not have the functionality to create and manipulate your WroxJokeShop database as described in the text because of limitations within your version of SQL or the environment, so we have provided full SQL scripts for all of the database operati ons necessary for the book. These have been put in the folder "Database" and you can run them on your own machine via the OSQL tool described in Appendix A. 2. Visual Basic.NET does not contain templates for the creation of class libraries, (which become more important later on in the book) though it will compile them without problems. Again, look in Appendix A for more information on this issue. 3. In order to run the code provided, you will need IIS, which is not installed by default on your Windows set-up. Issues relating to IIS are discussed in Appendix A, but as far as this code goes, all that is necessary to run it is to create a virtual directory corresponding to the absolute path in the code - in our case, "C:\BegECom\ChapterXX\WroxJokeShop. However, we recommend that you build your own version of the code as directed in the text in Driveletter:\BegECom\WroxJokeShop and only refer to the downloaded code for cutting and pasting and also as reference in case you encounter a problem in your own code. ...展开收缩
