3.00 CONTROL SYSTEM
3. 01 Overview
The PC Suzhou plant manufactures industrial protective coatings for heavy industry.
The plant receives liquid and powder raw materials and processes these materials on a batch basis in
stand-alone mixing and dispersing machines. Finished paint products are then filled into containers stored
in warehousing and then despatched
The major functions in the plant which are controlled by this Control System are
Bulk liquid receival and storage
Bulk Liquid transfer on demand to production Workshop equipment
Dispersing mixing and blending operations including
o Loading of bulk liquids by flow meter measurement
o Measurement and recording of manually loaded powders
o HSd operation(via PLCs embedded in each HSd control system)
o Emptying of HSD after process completion(known as filling out
o Washing hSd
In addition, the Control system will monitor some specific Utilities and will interface with vendor packages
such as environmental controls
Many operations are not controlled by the control system these include
Powder raw materials receival, storage and loading into vessels
Warehousing of finished product
In this specification the plant control will be dealt with on a P&i Diagram basis, with some overall contro
system descriptions
The SCada Control System for the plant is to integrate the following systems:
Citect SCADA Operator Interface at Production Office and at QC
Citect SCADA Operator Interface for Bulk Liquid receival (at Tank Farm)
Citect SCADA Operator Interfacing to 6 specific machines in the Production Workshop Building each
with its own embedded PLC control system(see list in 3. 02 below
Citect SCADA Operator Interface for Filling out at levels 2F and 1F within the Production Workshop

3.02 Citect SCADA Operator Interfaces
The Citect system will collate information from the other sub-systems making that information available
to various operators via Citect screens depending on assigned privileges
The Citect Operator Interfaces will enable the operator to control the functions and modes of other
systems.(e.g, remote pumps and valves)
The Citect SCADa systems will also provide alarming reporting functions and historical logging of
process and alarm data
Citect licenses will be installed as below:
