Chapter 1: Section 2 EXercise
Opening and Saving Files
Purpose
Bringing data files into HyperMesh and saving them using the files panel are frequent
this task The remaining exercises in this course will assume you know how to open and B
operations every user should understand. This exercise will help you become proficient
save files in Hyper Mesh
Problem statement
This exercise uses the files bumper_cen_ midl. hm, bumper_ mid2. hm,
bumper_end. igs, and bumper_end_rgd fem. Open multiple files containing various
sections of a bumper to obtain the whole bumper model shown below and then practice
saving data to files
HyperMesh 7.0
Introduction to Finite Element Pre-processing, Volume I
Proprietary Information of Altair Engineering, Inc
Mesh and geometry data from
file bumper cen mid1. hm
Mesh and geometry data
from file bumper mid2. hm
Mesh data from file
bumperend rgd fem
Geometry data from
file bumper end. igs
This exercise involves the following tasks
1. Open HyperMesh model file bumper cen midl. hm
2. Import the following files into the current HyperMesh session
Hyper Mesh model file bumper_mid2.hm
IGES geometry file bumper_end. igs
OptiStruct input file bumper_end_rgd fem
3. Save the HyperMesh session as a hyper mesh model file
4. Export all the geometry to an IGeS file
5. Export all the mesh data to an OptiStruct input file
6. Delete all data from the current Hyper Mesh session
7. Import the iges file you created
8. Import the Opti Struct input file you created into the current Hyper Mesh session
